Historic Milwaukee featuring Konkada Studio

As Historic Milwaukee continues to celebrate a decade of sharing Milwaukee through our gift shop, we are featuring one of our long time collaborators, Amin Konkada. His classic and graphic designs are a favorite among both visitors and locals.

Artist Bio

Amin is an artist and maker originally from Benin, West Africa, now deeply rooted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He creates handcrafted lampshades, city‑themed gifts, and textile‑inspired prints that reflect both his cultural heritage and his connection to Milwaukee’s neighborhoods, architecture, and creative community. Amin’s work has been featured at Historic Milwaukee for several years, where his designs celebrate the city’s character through thoughtful craft and modern storytelling.

Artist Statement

Having my work at Historic Milwaukee feels like placing a piece of myself in the heart of the city I now call home. I’m honored to be featured alongside so many talented artists, and grateful that my designs can meet the community in a space that celebrates Milwaukee’s story. - Amin Konkada

Art Process

My work begins by exploring Milwaukee, capturing the beauty of the city with my camera as I study the shape, the lines of its buildings, and the character of its streets. Back in my studio, those observations become the starting point for my designs, where I reimagine them into clean, modern compositions.
